Getting Together To Be Awesome

This year, we discovered something powerful – something that feels almost alchemical. When people come together, carrying nothing more than their lived moments and a desire to express themselves, something extraordinary happens. They begin to awaken parts of themselves they had forgotten. They begin to create magic.

We invited different groups of people to gather around themes that struck a chord within them, and they arrived with scattered memories, personal anecdotes, reasonable skepticism, and raw fragments of emotion. Soon, these fragments started taking shape. They found rhythm, depth, and meaning when shared within a group. People who believed they were “not really writers” watched their stories grow with surprising confidence. Those who had never shared their experiences aloud were heard. All of this happened because they were surrounded by others who were just as curious, nervous, and inspired as them.

We, at TWAGAA, always believe everyone carries stories – bright ones, thoughtful ones, secret ones. The problem is not the lack of stories; it is the lack of a space where those stories feel safe. Many people never had a peer group that encouraged their creativity. Many never imagined their small recollections could become part of a book available to readers across the world. Yet almost every person we met carried a moment so unique, so intimate, that it deserved to be told.

As publishers, we see this as more than a role; it feels like a responsibility. People hand us their stories, trusting us to nurture them. We help shape them into a narrative that has pulse and clarity. We bring them into groups where laughter, hesitation, vulnerability, and courage mix freely. They begin with a flicker of doubt. Then something shifts. Their eyes brighten. Their sentences strengthen. They discover the thrill of creativity and the comfort of companionship.

The impact has been astonishing. These groups didn’t just write stories – they formed bonds. They learned to cheer one another, challenge one another, and stand by one another’s voices. Strangers turned into collaborators, and collaborators became friends. Watching that transformation is a privilege. Creativity thrives in safety, and brilliance emerges in community. When people feel trusted, they reveal layers of themselves they never knew mattered.

At TWAGAA, we are humbled that more than 150 authors trusted us this year. Together, we built anthologies that pulse with grit, nostalgia, tenderness, rebellion, humour, and hope. These writers don’t necessarily write for fame. They write because something inside them needed to breathe. They write to share, heal, reflect, laugh, mourn, or grow. They write because creativity is a living thing, and when given a home, it blossoms.

Our real victory isn’t the number of books we released. It’s the collective heartbeat we created. A circle of humans who now recognise their own voices. A gathering that will continue to share stories, discover themselves, and inspire others. They came together, and in that togetherness, we all became awesome.
