28 May Here is why you should tell your story
The person who says, “I don’t see my daily life as story-worthy,” almost always has the most extraordinary one.
A few months back, we were attending a networking event where we came across an interesting person. He was sharp, warm, and completely magnetic. The kind of person you want to keep talking to. At some point, almost offhandedly, he mentioned navigating a cargo vessel through a night crisis… no power, sick captain, 18 crew, turbulent weather, wild sea.
“That needs to be in a book,” we cajoled.
He laughed. “Who’d want to read about Tom and Harry doing their jobs?”
Now here is the thing: the person who says, “I don’t see my daily life as story-worthy,” almost always has the most extraordinary one.
That evening, we went around the hall and noticed something unique. That place was full of story-worthy experiences. The people in the room were not those who would sit at desks writing them. They were professionals busy at work, in meetings, in classrooms, at events — they were ‘living’ stories – each remarkable in their own right. And, they had no idea that their experiences at work were stellar narratives.
We realised that their experience could be something more. Therefore, we collected cards from everyone who made ears stand a bit straighter.
The next day, the ‘Anthology Program’ was born at TWAGAA.
We brought together the cohort — professionals of the industry — and invited them to contribute one unique story beginning “One day at work, this is what happened that changed everything. I was…”
One experience. One moment that makes ears stand, eyes dilate, brings goosebumps.
We handled the rest: professional editing, publishing, printing, global distribution.
What’s more? Over the past year, we have brought several such cohorts together, published around 250 stories in almost ten amazing anthologies, carrying multiple voices from professionals, educators, students, etc. They all have created a legacy they can hold, share, and pass down.
Here is what we believe: Everyone has at least a few interesting experiences to share; they just have to tell it as a writer would.
So, where is your story? Here is your prompt, “One day at work, this is what happened that changed everything. I was…”
Send them to us. We will handle the rest – aesthetically and professionally 👍
